Project Description
MCW provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for a 60,000 sq.ft. renovation to existing space in West Edmonton Mall to establish a Winners/Homesense store for the TJ Max Group. The single floor space had been vacated by Target and was refurbished completely to reflect the building requirements and standards of TJ Max. This included all new mechanical and electrical components including 7 new roof top units, new domestic hot water system, redistribution of ventilation distribution, relocation of existing washrooms/staff rooms, change rooms, new building control system, major renovations to stock rooms/shipping/receiving department, new LED lighting throughout, Point of Sale data systems, building security, etc. While the structure was existing, the overall project included taking the majority of the space back to base drywall and configuring to match the established layout. This included removal of a centre core escalator separating the 2 story space into single story parcels. The project was completed using a fast track methodology in which the contractors provided design assist and constructability reviews.
