Project Description

A living museum, which serves local, regional and global communities while developing and promoting public understanding of the relationship between the plant world, humanity and the rest of nature. The elegant new facility is the gateway to the botanical gardens and utilizes sustainable environmental designs to highlight the local geography. Construction included of a 3-level atrium facility with exposed systems of concrete, structural steel, timber decking, glazed walls and roof, with finishes of natural concrete, polish concrete floors, millwork, steel, masonry and stonework. The project received LEED Gold accreditation.

Mechanical Systems Description:

MCW provided roof water collection,VAV with heat recovery, return air through biowall; air stratification and hydronic radiant floor heating.

Electrical Systems Description:

Electrical Systems comprised: fully controllable lighting, divided in multiple controllable circuits; multi-level switching & dimming; interior lighting controlled by local switches, occupancy sensor and daylight sensors and exterior lighting controlled by photocells.
