Alberta Health Services
Royal Alexandra Hospital, Orthopedic Surgery Centre
Project Description
Located on the Royal Alexandra Hospital site, this 7435 m2 facility is the first dedicated orthopedics structure in Alberta. The Orthopedic Surgery Centre is expected to help reduce wait times for hip and knee replacements. For patients who have received hip and knee surgery, the objective is to reduce stay times and help in recovery. This stand-alone orthopedic surgery centre has 4 operating rooms, over 50 beds and 150 staff. MCW Hemisphere acted as the Prime Engineering Consultants on this highly specialized facility. As an addition to the existing Royal Alexandra Hospital Site, Hemisphere had to ensure engineering designs for the project complemented the existing facility. In our prime consultant role, Hemisphere maintained open lines of communication, which were established early on in the project, to ensure the client’s vision for this facility came through in the construction process.
