Project Description
MCW Hemisphere Engineering completed the energy modeling for the design development phase for the University of Alberta Physical Activity and Wellness Centre (PAW center). The total project area is approximately 31,000m2. The facility consists of a state of the art recreation center and the HVAC plant consists of district energy system, with renewable and recovery systems including a near zero building design component.
The purpose of this project was to construct a new multi-purpose complex including a new fitness and lifestyle centre, additional research and classroom space, an outdoor sports park, indoor bike centre and upgrades to the existing Van Vliet Centre’s East and West Wings. The Van Vliet Centre currently houses a pool, main gymnasium, locker rooms, Clare Drake Arena and an existing fitness centre.
