Project Description

This Kingston Police Headquarters is a three level, 11,000 sq. m facility representing a distinctive stride in the design of police facilities by incorporating typical security parameters with “green” building design. The project includes an eight position firing range allowing 180 degree shooting scenario and infinite number of firing positions downstream of the rear of the range, detention area, vehicle area, forensic labs, office space for various departments, storage, community space and a communications centre.
The building is the disaster relief centre for the Kingston area, and as such, has back up power and communication systems to supplement all building functions.
The project is designed with sustainability as a key parameter and has received a LEED Gold designation. The design team also incorporated the four guiding principles: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink.
