Cardel Place Recreation Centre
The Community Center incorporates two ice rinks, aquatics centre, gymnasia, associated team change and shower rooms, therapy / fitness program areas, a public library, meeting/event rental space and administrative spaces. Cardel Place pioneered the sustainable design agenda for recreation facilities and was the first project in Alberta to achieve LEED® Gold certification. The result is a building design that exceeded the energy performance by 36% as defined by the Model National Energy Code, and conventional recreational buildings by an even wider margin. This was accomplished without compromising quality, occupant comfort or function.
