Project Description

Cameron Library has more than 350 computers over two floors - the Main Floor and the lower level Knowledge Common and Study Hall. The Science and Technology Library collections support research and teaching in the Faculties of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science.

This project entailed redevelopment of the existing mechanical and electrical systems of the main floor of this multi-storey building.

Mechanical engineering services included redevelopment of existing HVAC to suit new partition layouts. New cooling coils were provided with extension of existing chilled water lines from the basement. A number of plumbing renovations to new and relocated sinks were also provided.

Electrical engineering services included provision of new lighting throughout the floor, new power distribution to serve the various function of the spaces, and provision of data outlets and infrastructure for the computer connection terminals outlined on the furniture plans. Fire alarm system redevelopment was undertaken for the entire building under a separate contract, of which the main floor redevelopment was a part. MCW Hemisphere was also contracted by the University of Alberta to provide engineering services for fire alarm redevelopment.
