Project Description

MCW Hemisphere provided the mechanical and electrical engineering services for a complete modernization of the existing Archbishop MacDonald High School which originally opened in 1967. Completed in the fall of 2010, the entire facility was upgraded to help better accommodate their 1,000 students with provisions incorporated for future additions. This renovation and modernization included upgrades to classrooms, gymnasium and library/study areas. Also included was the addition of a new gathering area complete with cafeteria as well as office/administrative spaces.

Mechanical systems upgrades included HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls systems. System designs reflect a prudent blend of life cycle cost considerations including capital costs, utility consumption costs, and simple straightforward systems that can be understood and operated in an effective manner.

Electrical upgrades included lighting, power distribution, communication, emergency and fire alarm systems. All systems upgrades were designed to comply with the current edition of the Alberta Building Code and all applicable Provincial and Municipal Codes.
