Alberta Health Services
University of Alberta Hospital, Pediatric Ambulatory Care
Project Description
This 1,577 m² renovation retasks space on the Second floor of the Walter C. MacKenzie Centre with the intention to expand the services of the Stollery Children’s Hospital, which is a Hosptial within a Hospital, to provide clinical services to children ages 0-17. The new clinic provides an additional 37 examination/consultation rooms, with specialized rooms for Ears, Nose, & Throat clinics, as well as Thoracic examinations. Also included were an Isolation Room, Plethysmography and Methacholine challenge chamber rooms. The HVAC, Electrical, Life Safety and Security systems were extended from existing within the facility, with all services contained in the interstitial spaces above and below. A unique complexity to this project was the door security commissioning involving the “lock down mode” of the front doors on top of a day time/night time schedules, fire zoning, and card swipe access.
