Misericordia Health Centre
Misericordia Health Centre Redevelopment (Phase 1)
Project Description
The 105,000 sq.ft. first phase of Misericordia Health Centre’s highly complex redevelopment involved replacing an existing wing of the hospital with new and renovated spaces that serve to consolidate a variety of healthcare departments into a modern, sustainable and efficient healthcare campus. One of the principal challenges of the project was to maintain full healthcare operations during construction. The first phase of the redevelopment includes the new Buhler Eye Care Centre, a new ambulatory diagnostic centre, as well as space for the new PRIME program for elderly patients. The second phase will involve decommissioning the Sherbrook building to make way for a new chapel, as well as a spacious front entrance and glass-walled atrium.
The design incorporates clear wayfinding, daylighting and open public spaces, and positions Misericordia as a leading-edge healthcare campus.
