University of Alberta
Enterprise Square
Project Description
Enterprise Square was a challenging redevelopment of the historic Bay Building in downtown Edmonton. This existing building is designated as a Municipal Historic Resource, and the design of the facility had to respect and work within this framework. A dynamic element in this project was to construct an additional floor without business interruption for the Private Broadcaster. The facility presently houses the faculty of extension (classrooms, senior rooms, and staff offices), the AGA Temporary Gallery, University of Alberta Bookstore, a private broadcast tenant, and the Mount Royal College Nursing Program and TEC Edmonton. To reduce energy consumption special heat recovery systems were incorporated to deal with the "once through" requirement of air in the lab space. The allowance has provided operational savings for the client.
