Project Description

The St. Boniface General Hospital is a facility that is over 100 years old in Winnipeg and encompasses over one million square feet. The Cardiac Research Institute is a state of the art project designed to house all Pre and Post Cardiac Surgery and treatment into one facility. Two (2) complete hospital floors are designed for critical care treatment and monitoring including full service headwalls, bariatric services, ceiling tracks. The voice/data system is integrated with IBM as the data provider for the facility. The lighting design includes multilevel as well as multiple switched and controlled lighting design to allow for the complete flexibility depending upon the patients’ alertness and ability to accept visitors. The project also included a major upgrade to the full hospital emergency power system (one megawatt of emergency power capacity was added in a parallel scheme). This project included an intensive IDP process for LEED silver certification. Project completed in 2011.

Size: 4,924 square meters over the main, fourth and fifth floors of the existing Asper Building / Clinical Research Institute (CRI) and the construction of a new 610 square meter five-storey elevator
