Canada Line Templeton, Sea Island Centre and YVR-Airport Stations
Project Description
Templeton and Sea Island Centre Stations boast outdoor, at-grade, platform stations with pedestrian bridges. YVR Airport Station features a multi-level, elevated, single-track station, connected to the airport terminal, parking structure, and grade. Robust plumbing and drainage designs were provided for the roof, platforms, washrooms, and service areas.
Each station’s control room houses train and signal control equipment, all provided with air conditioning and dry agent fire suppression systems. Indoor substations provide track and station power. Specialized systems include station lighting, passenger duress stations, signage systems, CCTV, fire alarm, public address and extensive grounding and bonding systems. All systems were specified and installed with a high degree of durability and resiliency.
There were cost increases from myriad reasons, including soils and tunneling, utility conflicts, trains, and controls. However, construction and commissioning for the entire Canada Line was completed early, putting the line into operation four months ahead of schedule.
