Job Description:
GENERAL INFORMATION: The primary purpose of this position is to work with electrical utility customers, provincial, municipal and city road and highway departments, developers, other utilities and other stakeholders to produce overhead and underground designs for new service connections, rebuilds and relocates of existing facilities, and to provide for future growth of the Electrical Distribution System. Proficiency in mechanics of materials, applied physics, basic electrical theory, and the use of basic survey equipment are necessary. The employee in this position must maintain a positive attitude and a commitment to work positively with other people and a willingness to share knowledge with coworkers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Technologist, or 10 years of electrical distribution line construction experience. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of GIS based applications. The successful applicant will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with customers and co-workers in clear, concise, and courteous fashion. Candidate must be flexible in handling multiple assignments with changing priorities and must reliably meet deadlines. The preferred candidate has successfully completed a comprehensive distribution line design or staking technician program.
This position requires the ability to perform physical work in an outdoor environment. Applicant must have the ability to maintain detailed records. The Distribution Design Staking Technician / Technologist must be capable of obtaining a valid British Columbia driver’s license. |
